The Center for Optimal Living offers trainings and workshops on Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) and other complementary techniques, nationally, internationally and at our home in New York City.
Our training sessions are collaborative and include group discussions, interactive skill-building components, and case studies to foster a deeper understanding of IHRP and to promote its implementation in a variety of contexts. Our trainings are tailored to your needs and can be delivered in formats ranging from half-day to five full days, depending on your needs. Dr. Tatarsky is leading a monthly Consultation Group focused on IHRP for the full spectrum of risky and addictive behavior. This group is ideal for mental health and substance use practitioners who completed our 3-day training or Certificate Program in IHRP or those with comparable harm reduction psychotherapy training and clinical experience. The group will consist of didactics, case presentations, and a review of selected readings. Group members will also have an opportunity to share their current cases. Meetings will be held monthly on Fridays. Following an overview of the paradigm shift in our field and a discussion of compassionate pragmatism as a core harm reduction principle, Dr. Tatarsky will provide an introduction to essential elements of integrative harm reduction psychotherapy (IHRP). The consultation group will focus on clinical issues and challenges, case presentations, and review of harm reduction psychotherapy principles. Group members will also have an opportunity to share their current cases. This group is ideal for mental health and substance use practitioners who completed our 3-day training or Certificate Program in IHRP OR those with comparable harm reduction psychotherapy training and clinical experience. Our Certificate Program offers an intensive immersion in the principles, theories, and practical application of harm reduction psychotherapy. Classes are co-taught by Dr. Andrew Tatarsky, the developer of Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) and Dr. Jenifer Talley, a close collaborator in its continuing evolution. Special guest speakers also contribute to the class and offers students the opportunity to engage with experts in the field.
