Enhance Your Skills with Addictive and Risky Behavior, Harm Reduction Style, Nov. 6-8, 2015!

Dear Colleagues:

We still have some openings in our annual three day intensive training in Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP) on November 6-8. You will join a community of practitioners who have received training in IHRP in Lebanon, Philippines, Indonesia, Chile, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Ireland, Switzerland, Canada, Austria, France and many places around the US.

Join me and team members from the Center for Optimal Living to enhance your skills at helping people struggling with the full spectrum of addictive and risky behavior in your practice or organization: substance use, sex, eating, cutting, gambling, shopping, internet and more.

We will discuss the scientific revolution in this field toward a psychobiosocial/ multiple meanings model for understanding these complex behaviors and its therapeutic implications. Seeing behavior as meaningful relative to unique, whole people in their social/cultural environments implies for us the need to bring together relational, psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness and body-oriented strategies in a harm reduction frame; i.e. starting where the person is, embracing all positive changes as valuable and bringing compassion, curiosity and collaboration to support healing, growth and positive change.

These trainings are rare opportunities to spend concentrated time exploring how to make our work more appealing, effective and satisfying. The training will include lecture, discussion, case presentations, demonstration of technique and skills building exercises.

Consider joining us.
